Schott Zwiesel Tritan Crystal Glass Pollux 1-Liter Decanter

Not entirely as described

The description of this decanter states that it is made of Tritan glass, a Schott exclusive that makes the glass especially break resistant and dishwasher safe. After receiving this item from Amazon I looked high and low at the package but there is no reference to Tritan anywhere. This prompted me to go to the Schott Zwiesel website where it becomes clear that this decanter is part of their Crystal Glass line and not part of the Tritan line of wine glasses. If Tritan glass is used in its manufacture (it is made in Romania) it isn’t stated. While somewhat disappointing it isn’t that big an issue for me since large decanters like this one are made of thick glass and aren’t likely to end up in the dishwasher nearly as often as a wine glass. Amazon should, however, relabel the product to reflect its true construction.

Update: One more thing. According to the packaging and the owners’ guide (yes it comes with a short owners guide) the decanter features a “no drip” edge that…

Pollux Decanter

Schott Zwiesel’s Tritan Pollux Decanter is a beautiful and elegant decanter with a good weight. This lead free crystal glass decanter is very easy to hold. Try always to look for a decanter that you can easily grip and pour from underneath. The “steps” in the bottom part will make it much more easier for you to hold the decanter. The Pollux decanter looks super cool on every dining table. It is indeed an impressive decanter.
